Just sent my next book off to its higher destiny.... It's in the hands of the publisher now, and I wont' see it again until it's time to proof read and index. Proof reading and indexing suck ass hard. But for now I'm enjoying drinking my booze straight from the bottle, old man style.
BTW: I just found out that a second student of mine has been offered a job at an incredibly wealthy Christian university. What the fuck's up with that? I want to be happy for the guy, and a job's a job, but at the same time think that going to a Christian university is intellectual suicide.
Fuck it. Whatever.

Dude, you must be getting soft in your old age, if your former students are getting jobs at *Christian* Universities.
btw.....what the fuck? You set up your account so I can't make comments under different names?
I don't know what to think... Only the following thought consoles me: there's some Jesus freak out there who thought he was a shoe-in for the job that my guy got, despite not having the halo of a Jesus school or a Jesus adviser over his head. So fuck them all.
I didn't change anything about the posting stuff, so I don't know what you mean.
And thanks for the congrats on finishing the book. Dick.
What book?
Just talkin' tough again huh?
I'll send you a copy when it's in publication (October 08). And, yes, it's an all-out attack on my intellectual foes. Everyone gets refuted. Kicking ass, taking names, pissing on graves.
Congratulations on the book!!!
It doesn't seem to me that people were sufficiently refuted and humiliated by the last one. Let's hope this one *really* does the job.
I suspect the market is just too strong in terms of the supply of kick-ass job candidates to allow any non-censured Christian Universities to stay off the censored list and hire exclusively Christian faculty. I'm not that surprised that a highly qualified candidate would out-rank other candidates in this market, and given the self-interest Universities have in acquiring faculty that publish in top journals and university presses.
Maybe, they have atheist affirmative action, though.
Thanks! I'll keep you posted on the reception.
Unfortunately, the student in question is not an atheist...
