A College Degree? Make it So!

I simply cannot help but post about the University of Huddersfield, which boasts of one of the most distinguished university chancellors of all time: Patrick Stewart. That's right: Capitan Jean-Luc Picard is the chancellor of a university.

Since you'll no doubt want to move your (academic) career to Huddersfield, here's a link to their job openings. It seems they don't have a philosophy department. But those of us who can also hang with the political theory crowd still have a shot. Engage!

Why can't all university chancellors be chosen from the pool of former Star Trek heroes?

Presently a Ferengi is at the helm at my university. We sorely need Captain Kirk to implement our five-year plan to achieve a Carnegie rating.

But Capitan Kirk would surely raise sexual harassment issues....

Clearly some filthy rich geek should endow a Spock Chair of Logic.

Oh, to see Patrick Stewart, in full Borg regalia, sitting at a desk that has but one small sign on it: "Resistance is futile!"

Priceless.

I nominate Sulu to Athletic Director where their big time sports team is the Fencing program. They would rule.

I think Evil Kirk should take over William Paterson or the University of E*Trade. He would certainly be an improvement over Dr. Speert.

Why run with Evil Kirk when you could have Flash Gordon and open things up a bit...?

@ Brooks; Now you are widening the paradigm from Star Trek to all things Sci-Fi. In that case someone should endow Billy Dee Williams as the chair of a business department both for his Lando Calrissian role as well as those Colt 45 commercials. It works every time!

Santa:

Let's not forget that Lando Calrissian mispronounces "Chewbacca."

Spiros: Nice! I forgot about that.
