Attack of the Docs

Does anyone have any insight into the cause of the proliferation of music documentaries? I'm sure you all know about the one about the failed but persistent Canadian metal band Anvil. And there's apparently an Iron Maiden documentary out now.

But do we really need a documentary about the Insane Clown Posse and their fans, who call themselves juggalos? Has anyone seen this?

Haven't seen the documentary, but you know, they were great in their 2000 release of (colon abuse warning) "Insane Clown Posse: Big Money Hustla$: the Movie".

This said, almost all online reviews seem to run that it is only for "hardcore juggalo's (sic)"... does this mean that, since I liked it, I'm a juggalo? What if I don't want to be a juggalo? Clowns are for laughing at, not emulating. Isn't there a category error in a good deal of juggalology?

It seems in the last decade or so there's been an explosion of documentaries in general (of which rock documentaries are only a subset). What explains THAT? I dunno...

Digital video makes filming and editing your own docs a lot easier and cheaper.
