November JFP: Take Your Bets!

Anyone care to guess how many US entry-level TT jobs will appear in the November JfP, once the "web-only" [sic] and other duplicates are subtracted?

My guess: 20

I was expecting more like 10-15, and thought I was being optimistic. I'd be happy to see 20.

Is there a way for those of us who are only marginally looking for jobs to get a copy of the JFP? Word on the street is that you might know someone who provides such a service...

Couldn't you borrow a copy from a pal/professor?

If not, then by all means go the blackmarket route.

A small upside: those departments [like mine] who are not being allowed to run TT searches are probably able to offer 1-2 year contracts - either to people we hired last year or to people we hope to find this year.

This is not great, let's be clear. But it does signify that colleges and universities are playing a waiting game rather than simply cutting off philosophy departments, as is happening to may history programs.

20 is way too high. 5 max.
