No May JFP

From the APA's Jobs for Philosophers site (verbatim):

PLEASE NOTE: THE APA HAS NOT RECEIVED SUFFICIENT ENOUGH ADS IN ORDER TO PRODUCE A PRINTED JOBS FOR PHILOSOPHERS IN MAY. FOR THIS REASON, WE REGRET TO INFORM YOU THAT THE MAY 7, 2010 ISSUE (186) WILL NOT BE PUBLISHED.
At present, there are 35 "web only" ads.

Man, I'm not sure about my prospects as a philosopher. I think I might have to transfer to my school's print journalism program.

"Sufficient enough." Jackasses.

Umm... 35 is only if you count the 21 that are Post Doc positions in Tel Aviv, open in *all fields*. Of the remaining ads, only 2 are TT.

I don't know about this year, but it seems to me from the past 5 years of glancing (albeit casually) at the May JFP, there weren't ever really that many TT jobs, Anon. 4:18 -- were there?

I think this time of year was always slow for jobs...but this kind of news -- reinforcing the doom and gloom of job prospects -- isn't good for the morale of soon-to-be-completed PhDs...

@Daniel - anon 4:18 here - sure, that's not the time of year for TTs, but 2, 1 of them published in the previous 'web only' - that's still worth noting as particularly scant.

Did it really read "sufficent enough"? Perhaps the APA could hire a few PHL grads to edit copy.

So basically the one useful product that our dues might be paying for is now gone?
