November JFP
The November Jobs for Philosophers (188) publishes on Friday. Any predictions regarding the number of TT jobs that are not already posted on the "web only [sic]" list? My guess is no more than 10.
Why don't they just do an online JFP? The print thing is a waste.
Because if they don't have a print edition then foreign applicants can't get the visas that allow them to take up the jobs they get through the JFP. Uncle Sam, in his infinite wisdom and majesty, wants to see an actual print publication. Given that, getting rid of the print edition would be a disaster.
Perhaps a more interesting question is: will there be any jobs in the JFP which haven't already been announced via other venues? It feels like the annual October and November JFP are increasingly anti-climactic.
Observations from an old cranky jerk who happens to be a professional philosopher. Occasionally philosophical, most often just vulgar. Sometimes focused on sober points of logic and issues in political theory, but more frequently fixed on nonsense. Bad metal bands, crappy guitarists, stupid lyrics, celebrities, pop "culture," telemarketers, irrationality, and other annoyances. Always misanthropic. Anti-religious. Not particularly amusing, either. Some might say insulting. Strange mail. Kook magnet. Doom. Comments from other cranky jerks, young and old.

42... er, um, wrong question.
There will be more than 200 new jobs, and the Democrats will hold on to both the House and Senate.
This prediction game was boring the first time you posted it.
