R. E. M. has a posse.
Thank goodness. It's about two decades too late. 1988 was pretty much the end, in my view.
Let's hope that the breakup gives Michael Stipe the time to finally learn how to go away. (And Maybe Peter Buck can get some guitar lessons.)

Spiros, you are a cruel mot^e&f&c*e#. By the way, do you take your monkier from Spiros Vondas? If so, that's awesome.
R.E.M. should have had some dignity and hung it up by the time the original drummer retired due to a brain tumor.
If your drummer retires or has a brain tumor, that's a good time to close the book on a band and start something new.
It's a lesson New Model Army should have learned too.
Bill Berry did not have a brain tumor, it was a brain aneurysm.
I'm only posting because the WV is undrumma, which is irresistable in light of Santa's comment.
The speed of light may well have a posse too (confirmation pending): http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/technology/science/scientists-in-shock-after-breaking-speed-of-light/article2176328/
Not only was the drummer replaced, he was replaced by a machine.
@9:50: You have excellent taste in television. Methinks Spiros has no idea what you are referring to.
You know what else has a posse? The belief that Leiter posts those horrible poems for reasons other than that he's being blackmailed.
Needed to listen to New Day Rising really freaking loud, and remember why REM blew and college rock was the enemy back in the day. Wish the rest of the album (heh) was a huge as that track. Need to listen to fuck armaggedon this is hell to clean my palate.
The Wire sucks. And Husker Du.
From The Onion's list of highlights from REM's career:
"1994: Kurt Cobain lists Michael Stipe as one of his biggest influences seconds before shooting himself in the face"
