"Christopher’s inner circle, Martin, Ian McEwan, Salman Rushdie, James Fenton, Julian Barnes, comprise more or less the greatest writers in the English language. That’s some posse."

So now Cristopher Hitchens will have travelled through the tunnel of light, be met by loved ones and guides who lead him on in his spiritual journey into the life between lives (much documented by those who care enough to investigate) and realize (like Carl Sagan and others) that he has been massively confused about the nature of reality. Perhaps he will attempt to communicate his understanding to other sceptics who will dismiss the attempts as hallucinations. So much for "rational" philosophy academics (not philosophers) who live in the world of illusion or maya and aggressively attack those who disagree. May we all be free from suffering in the world of illusion or samsara. May we all reach enlightenment and complete the journey to the light together.
@Anon 11:06: At the risk of being rude, may I point out that you are being both rude and arrogant? You not only mock a recently deceased person, but also presume that that person must – according to your beliefs – be experiencing something in which he did not believe. When you die, please let us all know what you experience. Until then, please do not pretend to know (a) what no living person knows and (b) what someone who can no longer respond to your presumptuous comments might have to say in response to them.
Observations from an old cranky jerk who happens to be a professional philosopher. Occasionally philosophical, most often just vulgar. Sometimes focused on sober points of logic and issues in political theory, but more frequently fixed on nonsense. Bad metal bands, crappy guitarists, stupid lyrics, celebrities, pop "culture," telemarketers, irrationality, and other annoyances. Always misanthropic. Anti-religious. Not particularly amusing, either. Some might say insulting. Strange mail. Kook magnet. Doom. Comments from other cranky jerks, young and old.
