APA Session Rule #6

After the comment has been given the speaker may respond for a few minutes (at most). But the speaker's response must actually respond to the comments. The response to the comments is not simply a second opportunity for the main speaker to talk.

Ah Spiros you are surely asking too much

Spiros,

First, thanks for your comment. It is well done. I really appreciate your thoughts on this matter, and only wish we had more time to spend on them, instead of my paper. But let me preface my response with this: as Nietzsche said, "A friend should be a master at guessing and keeping still: you must not want to see everything." Hehe, I'm sure you understand! But then as Rawls says, "In constant pursuit of money to finance campaigns, the political system is simply unable to function. Its deliberative powers are paralyzed." Oh, that Rawls, what a kidder! (Aside: Jack could hit the beer bong like a champ! And, once, I heard Kai Nielsen say... but I digress.) As to the substance of your comment, on the appropriateness of my responding to your comments for too great a length of time, I can only say that there are three ways to skin a cat. None are pleasant, of course, at least not for the cat. But then again, who wants to live eternally the life of a cat?

Look, I don't know much about APA session etiquette, but I really think that Spiros could have avoided all the confusion in this comment thread by explaining APA Session Rule #2 first.

1:21 nails it. I think what's confusing everyone is not putting rule 2 first and it probably would have helped to ease all the confusion here Spiros if you had started with that. Thanks everyone!
